A truly unique fabric, the Boro Wovens Patchwork is a true patchwork of seven inch squares of all the different Boro Wovens fabrics sewn together to make one beautiful fabric. True to the spirit of “Boro”, this fabric will make lovely and unique bags, pouches, and clothing.
This new line of Moda fabrics honors the Japanese tradition of boro—the Japanese technique of creating beautiful textiles through repeated mending—and to give quilters the opportunity to create beauty of their own.
The tradition of boro (the word translates as “tattered” and “broken”) can be traced to the snowy north of the island of Honshu, an area associated with significant poverty, according to the Amuse Museum in Tokyo.
The Boro Wovens collection are 100% cotton, but woven in a way to create a more textured and slightly heavier fabric than quilting weight.
