0.5oz pot of “SMASH!” Sew Fine Thread Gloss. A rainbow smash up of delicious treats, such as sugared strawberry, sweet peach, ripe raspberry and cotton candy. Fruity, fun and your new favourite thread gloss scent!
Tame your threads! No more tangled, knotted or static-y threads! Easy to use. Simply thread your needle, and lay the thread over the tin. Apply pressure with your thumb and pull the thread across the top of the wax. Repeat if needed.
As a kid, did you ever come across your granny’s sewing kit and wonder why there was a gnarly chunk of beeswax in there? Well, your gran was/is a smart woman. For generations, sewists and tailors everywhere have been using beeswax as a natural thread conditioner to give them smooth and tangle-free quilting and hand-stitching. It also helps to provide additional strength to natural threads such as cotton and silk, as well as to help prevent thread fraying.
Sew Fine Thread Gloss is made with locally sourced beeswax that has NOT been chemically processed. It is handmade in a variety of scents (as well as a natural beeswax/honey scent) in small batches just outside Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is a natural light amber colour (as it should be) – those white beeswaxes have been bleached or have had clay added to make it white. The beeswax Sew Fine sources is one step away from the hive – filtered once to separate it from the honey and any leftover hive particles. Each pot contains 0.5oz of thread gloss.
Orders placed before 1pm Monday to Friday are shipped the same day. Orders placed after 1pm Monday to Friday are shipped the next working day.
Please note that during exceptionally busy times (eg Black Friday sales, birthday sales, etc) orders will take longer to ship than usual.
We ship with Royal Mail both in the UK and internationally. Occasionally for international parcels over UPS we may need to ship with UPS or another company.
We charge a flat rate delivery fee of £3.00 for delivery in the UK for orders less than £45.
Orders over £45 for UK delivery qualify for free shipping.
International orders are charged at a flat rate delivery fee of £10 for shipping worldwide.
Next day delivery is available for a flat rate fee of £9.00.
Local orders can be collected. If your postcode is local the 'Local Pickup' option will be available at checkout. When you receive an email saying your order has been completed this is when it is ready for collection. Parcels can be collected Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
Royal Mail First Class delivery in the UK takes 1-2 working days on average. Royal Mail Second Class delivery in the UK takes 3-5 working days on average.
Royal Mail Next Day Delivery is delivered the next working day before 1pm (some conditions apply).
Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed takes 7-10 days on average. However, parcels are stopped by customs and can take several weeks to clear customs. Your tracking number will be added to your order when it is shipped so you should be able to keep an eye on where your parcel is in the process.
All international orders are NOT charged VAT at checkout and therefore will be stopped at customs and the correct VAT will be charged for your country at that point. We legally have to declare all items in the parcel and the correct invoice total for the parcel.
Please note that this will mean a delay in receiving your parcel as customs can take 1-2 weeks to process a parcel, though it is sometimes faster.

We accept returns of unused, unopened items in saleable condition within 30 days of the order.
We do not accept returns of cut fabric as this has been cut off the bolt specifically for your order.
Please contact us on [email protected] to let us know if you are returning an item. Return postage is not paid unless the item being returned is faulty or damaged.
We aim to ship all orders placed by 1pm the same day, apart from during busy sale times. Orders are shipped Monday to Friday via Royal Mail. A Local Pickup option is available at checkout for local customers. See the tabs on the left for more detailed shipping and delivery information.
We are always happy to combine, change, or add to orders to help you save on shipping costs.
However, we do ask that you notify us before 12 noon on the day your order is due to ship. After this time it is likely your order will have been packaged and booked for shipping, and we will not be able to change it.

I do a lot of hand applique and bought the Thread Gloss after it as recommended in a recent zoom talk with Jen Kingwell and Ginny Robinson. I’ve used Thread Magic in the past to condition and strengthen Aurifil 80wt but this product from Carolyn Friedlander just takes it to the next level. It’s great to work with and the smell is just amazing, fruity beyond belief! I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to avoid knots in their threads when appliquing but also looking for something a little bit special to treat themselves with.
